Future offerings will be made available for individual purchase as well as included in the Just for OT subscription.

This webinar will be held on Zoom.

This course is an intermediate course recommended for learners who have foundational knowledge of dyslexia.

Move beyond reading scores and discover how occupational therapy can transform participation, confidence, and success for children with dyslexia. In this dynamic and practice-focused course, occupational therapy practitioners will learn how to connect assessment findings to meaningful, occupation-based interventions that support academic performance and everyday function. Explore the critical role of executive cognitive functions, including visual perceptual skills, visual-motor integration, and memory systems, in reading and learning, while gaining practical strategies you can immediately implement in clinical and school-based settings. Using the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework (OTPF-4) and the Integrated Learning Occupational Therapy Framework (ILOTF), participants will develop effective treatment plans that bridge the gap between evaluation and intervention. Leave with evidence-informed tools, creative intervention ideas, and greater confidence in helping children with dyslexia thrive at home, in school, and within their communities.

Target Audience: Occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy students

This occupational therapy continuing education course uses the following instructional methods: visual aides (ie slides), discussion board, guided note taking, and learning, and practice opportunities.

Content disclosure: This course does not exclusively focus on any specific product or service.

Presented by:
Dr. Penny Stack, OTD, OTR/L, COTA, CLT, NBC-HWC

“Thanks to this workshop, tutors from TCCL’s Adult Literacy program are more capable of working with dyslexic learners and those who struggle to read because of auditory and visual memory skills.Penny is an engaging facilitator who creates an interactive learning environment with lots of opportunities to ask questions and talk about real life examples. The workshop was just the right mix of theory, practical application and anecdotes.Great course, thank you Penny!”

Feedback from “Auditory and Visual Memory for Reading” Workshop

I just finished your dyslexia course through PESI. It was so informative! I appreciate all of the information you shared. It is definitely a top favorite now!

I really appreciated attending your presentation in Manchester, NH with PESI.  I’m a reading specialist and speech language specialist and your insight into the OT area for reading was useful and applicable.

Very strong! One of the best courses on dyslexia I’ve taken.

I attended your “Dyslexia-Building New Neuropathways” course last summer in Milwaukee on 7/18/19.  I enjoyed it and came away with a new perspective on training working memory in children.

Penny is extremely knowledgeable about this subject matter based on her personal experience (real-life stories are significant) as well as being professionally educated and relying on research. She also uses her practical knowledge and experience in a powerful way so that we can be more effective with our own treatment and approaches to students and their families.”

I really liked that she shared practical information that I can use immediately to help my students. I am a speech and language therapist who has focused on the phonemic development and incorporated visualization but did not think about the role of the occupational therapist as much in treatment for dyslexia. I definitely learned that today. Thank you!

As an SLP, it helps to better understand the mystery of dyslexia & underlying issues with practical activities/ strategies to use with clients.

“I just completed the Dyslexia Demystified course …I want to say that I enjoyed the course so much and will be looking for courses from you in the future as I am seeking to expand my knowledge in this area! Again, I loved the course very much and am so appreciative of you sharing your knowledge.”
